Membership Chair Report

Membership – JUST IN TIME!

New members are joining CMA at a regular rate. Brokers and Companies are finding out that they need our association to stay on top of all the regulatory changes.

More than ever now is the time to ask your non-member broker friends to be sure their company’s documents and methods of operation are consistent with the new laws and regulations that are coming up soon.

At the last conference members were told of the new RESPA requirements. They are far reaching. The new Federal Truth-In-Lending Section 35’s (that’s what we call it) requirements are required for all owner occupied loans. There are a few exceptions; however you and your non-member broker friends need to know all the laws. Violate this law and, as Dennis Doss says, “They’ll eat you alive,” or something like that. I’m sure Dennis is referring to the lenders, borrowers and the legal community. Ouch!

Our membership is state wide. Your non-member broker friends will be joining an organization that will network with them and give them the education they need for just the price of membership. Now, our seminars are held three times a year. They will find the cost worth the price and more. Listen to the best real estate attorneys in the state. Ask questions at no additional cost. Receive materials, forms and documents at no extra cost. Our next seminar will be in Los Angeles at the Westin LAX. Please see the Web site for details.

Tell them to join NOW. If they have been putting off joining a trade organization for any reason, don’t wait. Tell them to run to their computers and look at our web site. See it at www.californiamortgageassociation.com and go to the JOIN member area. You and they will be glad you did, and so will your clients.

For personal information you are welcome to call me at (707) 528-2202. I am the membership chair and will tell you all you want to know, really.
